Kayla and Gio's love story commenced much like many people's by meeting through mutual friends. Kayla's high school friend introduced her to Gio just after Kayla made the move to San Diego from her hometown of Plainview, Texas. Giovanni relocated here to San Diego from Detroit for greater career opportunities just prior to meeting Kayla. Kayla, a property manager, and Gio, a crane mechanic and operator, love the beach, love to surf, head to the mountains for snowboarding and hiking, and have recently gotten into bocce ball. These two really do work to play. When not working you can also find them going out for Mexican food in Old Town and searching different San Diego neighborhoods for great taquerias. When it came time for Gio to pop the question, the obvious choice was doing it on Kayla's favorite holiday, the Fourth of July. Gio took a knee and opened the little box to Kayla's delight under a shower of fireworks in the San Diego night sky. Kayla and Gio, being lovers of everything outdoors, wanted a venue that incorporated beautiful gardens and ocean views, so they chose the lovely Thursday Club in Point Loma, San Diego. We started the photography at a gorgeous vacation home on Mission Bay. I photographed Gio and the boys walking the streets and beaches of Mission Beach and Mission Bay then we spent some great time in Kayla's prep room capturing some beautiful moments of her readying herself with her mom, her sisters and some of her lifelong friends. After plenty of detail photos and a few shots of the girls enjoying some Bailey's and coffee Kayla jumped into her dress. We got some wonderful portraits as the light was coming in the windows so beautifully in her prep room. We went outside for some nice portraits of Kayla and the gals. We found some nice backdrops including some giant bird of paradise plants and a beautiful blue wall before heading to the sand for some beach photos of the girls. After prep photos, we all headed to The Thursday Club for a first look and then the ceremony. The lighting was a bit overcast, but it made for great light and in turn for great photos. The first look was a really beautiful moment that would have tugged on anyone's heartstrings. After some nice photos of Kayla and Gio, we got some images of the whole bridal party and then got ready for the ceremony to commence. The ceremony was beautiful, where all in attendance were very touched. Family photos are the first order of business post ceremony, so after some fun family photos we all headed into the reception for the grand entrance. It's always such an exciting time when the newlyweds are announced. Then, it's a real "ahhh" moment when the newly married couple goes right into their romantic first dance as husband and wife. The party was a blast and I was really happy Kayla and Gio chose me to be a part of it. I want to thank my assistant on the day, Kellie; it's always a pleasure to work alongside her. I look forward to hearing some tales of the adventurous honeymoon in Italy and Greece that Kayla and Gio will be taking soon.

Thanks for checking out my blog. All the best,

Brett
