I had the pleasure of photographing Lori and Alan's Carlsbad wedding a little over a month ago, on September 21, 2014. Lori, originally from Santa Fe has been a globetrotter since she was 6. After traveling around the world and then back to the states she with her family, they settled into life on the East Coast where she went to school at Northeastern University in Boston to receive her degree in ASL Interpreting. Alan, native to Massachusetts, stayed on the East Coast for school where he received both his undergrad and graduate degrees to pursue a career in physical therapy. The two met while they were enjoying a night on the town in Boston with their friends. They shared a classic dance together, "The Lawnmower" and the rest is history. The two swapped the chilly East Coast for the sunny West Coast and had their wedding in San Diego. Their beautiful wedding took place outdoors at the Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort and Spa. We started the day off with some prep shots of Lori as she got ready for her big day with the girls.
Next up, we headed over to Alan's room where he was getting ready with the guys. And what a view from their room!
The Hilton in Carlsbad is such a gorgeous wedding venue for an outdoor ceremony. With lush greenery surrounding the property and the beach so close, you can't go wrong. Their ceremony was perfect. Lori's unique aqua wedding dress was such a great pop of color and looked awesome with all of the greenery surrounding them.
After the two said their "I do's" we took some photos of couple and their families, followed by some great shots of the newlyweds. After that it was off to the reception!
After the reception was under way I stole Lori and Alan for some photos of the two of them on the beach, just as the sun was setting. The sky was on fire that night, giving us some really vibrant shots.
I want to thank Lori, Alan, their wonderful families and their great day of coordinator, Katie, from Plaid & Paisley Weddings. This day was such a beautiful celebration, I wish you both the best and it was an honor to shoot your wedding!
